World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic, held at the Commerce Casino, has just recently wrapped up its second day, with Daniel Negreanu of Team PokerStars landing on the second place with his 316,500 chips. Taylor "taypaur" Paur might have been the chip leader, with 318,400, but it was Negreanu who stole the limelight with his monster hands.

Dwindling Numbers

World Poker Tour, or WPT, is one of the most popular and highly recognized major poker tournaments right now. It is attracting hundreds of poker pros as well as regular poker players from all over the world who want to try their hands at one of the biggest cash prizes in the poker world.

Today, World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic has attracted more than 400 entrants, and on day two, this number has dwindled down to 186.

Negreanu's Monster Hands on Day Two

On Day Two of the said major poker tournament, Negreanu moved up the ladder and landed on the second place, all thanks to two monster hands that gave him a big edge over his opponents.

The first one was when he received 3 and 4 of clubs, in which he promptly raised. Two players called, but when the flop revealed 2 of clubs, three of diamonds, and 5 of clubs, it was apparent to all of them that Negreanu could, indeed, be holding a very good hand. Leading out for 3,500, one of his opponents folded, but it did not stop the player who was in the big blind from raising it up to 6,000 above. With a monster hand such as his, Negreanu added more action into the game when he raised it to 15,000, upon which his opponent declared that he was "all in." When Negreanu called, his opponent revealed a 3 of hearts and an 8 of diamonds, but the turn revealed a 4 and the river revealed a King of spades, giving the win to Negreanu.

Another worthy hand that Negreanu has had on Day Two was when he revealed 8 of clubs and 8 of spades for quads, with the community cards showing Queen of spades, 10 of clubs, 8 of diamonds, A of spades, and 8 of hearts. This pushed him further up into the top ten, only some chips away from Paur's 318,400.

Another member of the Team PokerStars also got into the Top Ten on Day Two, and this is Vanessa Rousso with 221,700, landing on the fifth place.
