If your poker game is strong enough that you have a strategy for your poker a short stack could be a great way to ambush the table. If the people at the table are people you haven't played against before they will not be able to recognize your poker level. Now you can use your short stack to fool them that you are a fish and can surprise them with aggressive play when they don't expect it.

A short stack calls for tight play, you will have to get a strong hand to get through cause you will be probably get called a lot. So bluffing is not the safest option here. When some player has a small stack opponents won't hesitate to call, but the good side of this is that they will probably not try to bluff you either. Try to play medium pairs, big pairs and big cards if you want to win with a short stack.

Many poker players think that short stacks should play it very tight. As a beginner that's probably the safest but as soon you are confident enough to read the situation good enough to know when to switch to loose play this could be the best strategy.
